Breath-taking landscapes, favourable winds, Mediterranean climate and a wide basin are the distinguishing features when it comes to find an ideal place to fully enjoy a boat tour dedicated to fun and relaxation. This is why Lake Garda, among the most popular lakes in Europe, is always a guarantee.

In this article, we have collected some hotspots not to be missed to discover Lake Garda aboard your boat.

Discover Lake Garda by boat: Desenzano – Sirmione – Rocca di Manerba tour

The tour starts from the town of Desenzano, from where, in a few minutes, you can reach the marvellous Sirmione, also known as the “Peninsula of the Poets” for the praises woven by various poets and artists over the centuries.

Once in Sirmione, let yourself be awed by the archaeological area of the Grottoes of Catullo, the ruins of an ancient Roman villa overlooking the lake and the so called “Jamaica Beach” bathing area, renowned for its crystal-clear waters, whose astounding shades reminds the Caribbean seas. When touring around the peninsula, make sure to take a look at the majestic profile of the Scaligero Castle and its splendid dock.

After visiting Sirmione, let’s now head towards Manerba and its fortress, on the top of which the famous cross stands out among the ancient ruins: this is one of the most fascinating viewpoints of Lake Garda, from which you can easily observe the imposing Monte Baldo and admire the view of San Biagio Island (also known as Rabbits Island), Isola del Garda, San Felice harbour, the Gulf of Salò, as well as the coastline, scattered with many towns and villages.

Let’s now admire Rabbits Island in all its splendour, with its lush vegetation, and here we are, ready to head back to Desenzano del Garda.

Discovering Punta San Vigilio by yacht

Often compared to Portofino, Punta San Vigilio is one of the Lake Garda eastern shore flagships, as well as a fixed stop for boat tours.

It is a small promontory located in the Gulf of Garda, on which a magnificent Renaissance villa, surrounded by cypresses, is to be found. It is in this corner of paradise that, as the story goes, Winston Churchill allowed himself moments of relaxation between a political commitment and another. Its enchanting atmosphere is still palpable and you will be taken back in time when, while taking a stroll around or – even better – a touring the gulf by boat, you will discover Villa Guarienti, the church, the historic inn, the marina and the park (admission fee).

The best time for a romantic trip to Punta San Vigilio? Sunset!
